Individual therapy
Sessions that start from where you are
For adults who want a place to talk that doesn't need an introduction. You might come to talk about coming out, a relationship, work, family, anxiety, grief, or something you can't yet name.

What it looks like
Who it helps
Adults, 18 and older, of any orientation or gender identity, including people who are questioning or aren't ready to use a label.
What sessions look like
Fifty minutes, in person or by video. I ask what you'd like from the hour and follow your lead. Some sessions are quiet, some are busy, and some are about getting through the week.
The method
I use supportive, person-centered talk therapy and, when you want it, skills for anxiety and low mood drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy. I explain any method before we try it, and you can say no.
What it is not
It is not an assessment of whether you're really who you say you are, and it is not an attempt to change your orientation or gender identity. It is not an emergency service.
How long and how often
Your clinician sets the pace with you. Many people start weekly and then space sessions out. There is no set number of visits.
How it is paid
Your fee is in writing before you book. The fees page covers insurance, receipts for reimbursement and the Good Faith Estimate.
Questions
Three questions about this service
Do I need to know what I want to work on?
No. We can start with how you're doing and let it take shape.
Can I stop whenever I want?
Yes. You can pause or end therapy at any time, and I'll help you find someone else if you'd like.
Is individual therapy only about being LGBTQ+?
No. Many people come for things that have nothing to do with identity. Those are welcome too.
Ready to talk?
Write to me with a few words. I reply on weekdays.
