How fees work
Insurance we work with
I take some insurance plans and I'm out of network with others. Before the first session I check what your plan covers and tell you what it means for you. I don't bill Medicare or Medicaid.

If you pay yourself
If you pay yourself, you get my fee in writing before we meet, and it stays the same for every session. I keep a limited number of reduced-fee sessions, so ask when you write. HSA and FSA cards usually work. I ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session.

Receipts for reimbursement
I can send a monthly itemized receipt, called a superbill, to whoever pays. It lists a diagnosis code, and your plan will see it. If you'd rather not have a code on paper, tell me before we start and we'll talk it through. The plan decides what it pays back, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your care before you start, and I give you one in writing. If a bill comes to $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
Checking your benefits
I go over your benefits with you before the first session and tell you what to ask your plan. I can't promise what a plan will pay. If the name on your card is not the name you use, I'll use the name you use in everything I send you.
